Whoops forgot a title

Sarah: (about someone in the waiting room) That is the pastiest live person I've ever seen, and not even in a Pendergast-that's-kinda-hot kinda way.

Me: (recognizing a patient) Oh, I remember you. Last time you were here, you couldn't spell Bhamindapati.
Patient: Who the hell can?!

It's Gina Needs a Nap's six month anniversary. I swear to god I started this blog back in December of 2010 but apparently it was actually June of 2011.

Look at this cutie pie. My voice shoots up 12 octaves when I see him. One of the gals who works at the office upstairs bought this cuddly fluffy thing on craigslist. Monica described him as the size of a hamster and I thought she was totally BSing, but he really is the size of a little kitten :3
His name is George. Heather calls him Baby-G.

Yesterday was Ruth's last day a Thine Place of Employment hitherto known as "CFE". Ruth is (was) one of the CRNAs here. I barely knew her until about two months ago when she saw me knitting in the break room one day (I had been working on Vin's scarf), and as it turns out she is quite the knitter.

After work Tuesday we had our annual Holiday party at Bonefish Grill.

I got my usual caesar salad with grilled chicken and their tasty, tasty bread. Laurie next to me got the Bang Bang Chicken, which was DELICIOUS and will be my new favorite there.

L to R:
Indira, Joyce H, Mary, Laurie, Me, Maryann, Sarah, Leslie, Deb, Dale.
Not pictured Diane who was taking the picture.

Laurie got all fancified but I wore my crap from work.

Sherlock will be back for Season Two on January 1! I am looking forward to this even more than Doctor Who Christmas episode. It is probably my favorite thing on TV right now and it's a shame Americans don't know about it.

In other unrelated news, I have started playing FFXI again after Liam emailed me to let me know DryRoot will be starting back up in January.
FFXI is an epic lifesuck and I promise not to get addicted. Again. (Was I ever addicted in the first place? I found it surprisingly easy to quit last year.)

I had a bit of a reputation as kind of a badass RDM (Red Mage) and I'm glad to see I haven't lost my touch.

Back Home

Some more stuff from the land up north...

(When my brother had a broken foot...)
Vin: Mom, I'm handicapped.
Mom: Yeah, and you broke your foot too.

My brother is a connoisseur of that's what she said jokes...

Vin and Trevor were dragging the Christmas tree up from the basement:
Mom: Okay, you wanna do this?
Vin: That's what she said.

Mom: (about the tree) Oh, that's why it's crooked. It wasn't all the way up!
Vin: That's what she said.

Mom: No, you gotta bring the bottom up first.
Vin: That's what she said.

Incoming Picspam.

Now that it is after the fact, I can share pictures of the super secret knit I was working on.
Vin has the distinction of being the first person in my family to receive a handknit from me!

Family tradition bake-a-thon of Potica, a cinnamon/walnut/sugar/butter/chocolate pinwheel pastry.

When Lu is outside in the cold for a while she comes back in and huddles in a blanket next to the nearest body of warmth.

The fam, with way too much flash.

Tami and I messing around with lipsticks and bathroom lighting.

Due to weather (most likely fog) the plane from Midway to Sarasota was delayed almost 40 minutes and I didn't get in to town til 7pm.

I'm guessing this is Tampa.

Illinois, Day 1

Guess where I went as soon as I landed at Midway Airport...

My mother, big pimpin'.

Currently groping all my new double pointed needles from KnitPicks. I wiped them down with a wet rag to get the packaged/greasy feeling from them, like I did with the circulars. They are so shiny and pointy and could do some serious damage.

Gonna get to work swatching for what could become my first original knit project.

Stephen King!

I finally went to my first book signing, and of all people, it was Stephen Freaking King.

Sarah and Leslie camped out at 6am to get the blue wristbands to get into the signing later at 7pm. I held down the fort at work.

We met at Barnes & Noble at 5pm. Cause you wanna get a good spot in line. There were 800 people there.
Luckily the blue wristand means you are one of the first hundred people.

Wristband means I'm legit.

You were forbidden from using flash photography while you were there, which is why the pictures are blurry.

We met this... guy... who apparently Sarah and Leslie had met in the AM while waiting for the wristbands. His hand was on my lower back. I feel creepy just typing it.

Sarah & Leslie

All the sudden we hear "Please Welcome Mr. Stephen King" and much "woo"ing sprang up. I kind of saw his back as he walked past our stack.

After waiting for two hours amid the books (and conversation including but not limited to the phrase "Mein Kampf es su Kampf", we rounded the corner and got our first glimpse of Stephen King.

We decided Leslie was going to hang back and let people pass her so she could get good shots of Sarah and I getting our books signed.

Getting my book signed. It all moved so quickly you weren't even allowed to say anything really, except for Hello and Thank you.

Sarah getting her book signed while I'm sure I was getting yelled at by the worker people.

Leslie's getting signed.

The finished product.

We went to Bonefish Grill afterwards but due to a 45 minute wait, we gave up and went to Chili's.

Back to work tomorrow.

Halloween

iPhone Autocorrection Text to Sarah:
What I sent: No, I just feel bad bc you’ll be busy doing today’s stuff
What I ALMOST SENT: No, I just Ferlinghetti bad bc you’ll be busty doing today’s studs.

Since it's relatively late at night (for the rest of the free word, not me) I'll keep this to pictures mostly.

CFE passed the surprise AHCA inspection with ZERO CITATIONS!
Note: I know everyone who reads this blog with the exception of my brother knows this already but that is unheard of.

My Wednesday. Victoria's Secret, MAC, and Starbucks, ha-ha-ha.
Also featured: TARDIS keychain.

Also on Wednesday I got a pretty fancy printer. I don't particularly need a scanner but it's impossible to find one nowadays without one. I had this blue one for the longest time (since college) that I don't even have the powercord and install disc for anymore. Am I allowed to just leave it by the road on garbage day?
It's wireless, which is my favorite part. I forgot how much I actually print. For years I've been emailing myself stuff to print off at work the next day, but to actually print when I want to is kinda nice.

Later, Robert Downey Jr. tried to sell me shit on QVC.

Obligatory scenery images.

Made a cinnamon apple caramel "cake" for office party. I use quotes because I dislike how it turned out.

Me wearing my halloween bling.

Alas, poor Yorick. He's been demoted to office party entertainment.

I thought this is supposed to be a knitting blog.

Yorick the Styrofoam skull is now at my house guarding the candy bowl for trick or treaters.
